Hi Guys, So a few of you (OK, probably a few thousand of you) may have noticed that GDU was offline for a few days earlier this week.
I got an email from a GDU visitor earlier in the week asking me if there was anything wrong with the site as she was not able to access the site (although bizarly her husband could access the site from the United States).
I checked the site, saw that we were still chugging along and wrote myself a note to respond at the weekend.
Over the next couple of days I got a couple more emails from folks struggling to access our site and when I checked again, logging into gettingdownunder.com I got a nice page full of ads!!!
To cut a long story short, I registered the domain a gettingdownunder.com a number of years ago and the registration period had expired. Since the credit card details I had with the registrar had expired the auto renewal didn’t take place and the registration period lapsed (it would have been nice to get a reminder but alas… I did not).
Thankfully, it would seem that domain registration company’s take into account the general busyness and poor organisational capabilities of website owners like me so I had a fair few days grace to re-register the URL which I’ve now done, for a further 5 years.
Soo… We’re back!! Sorry folks. It won’t happen again! 
In other news… I’m on holiday now for the next two and a half weeks and we’re flying just over two hours north of Perth to a place called Broome.
It’s been a while since we last had a holiday so we’re looking forward to the break.
